Has anybody ever became a tutor at their college for some extra part time cash?

Im thinking about becoming an Accounting tutor at my school for some extra cash. Does anyone has any experience with this? (tutoring...)
They say they'll pay for 8 hours of training and then it's like $12 an hour a few hours a week.

Yeah I did it for a programming class. I signed up because I knew the guy who needed help, and I would have been helping him for no pay otherwise. Then his class found out I was helping him and half the class signed up (tough class). I said I didn't have time, because I really didn't want to spend that much time tutoring (and dealing with stupid people - the guy I was helping was pretty smart). You really have to have patience to deal with people who really don't get it. And I know from my experience taking an accounting class that there are some people who REALLY don't get it.

The training for me was just watching these videos. I didn't go to the scheduled training sessions because I had another job, so I just watched them at my leisure, usually while reading a magazine because they were really pointless.

I definitely did not make $12 an hour though, it was a workstudy job so they paid $5.25 an hour.

I've been a tutor for over a year... And all I can say is that it is a hard job as you'll have to deal with people...
However, 12$/hour is just so good...

Well, I tutored this one woman in accounting for a semester for free. And I found it pretty easy.
I just hope I can find the time to fit it in with my busy schedule of work and school.

My sister tutors General Chemistry for $30/hr. I think ~$15-20 is a reasonable, depending on field and time.

Does she tutor privately?
I do $25/hour for Organic Chemistry/Calculus and Physics...
and ... how much you are paid depends on how much knowledge is in the part between your two ears...
