I am watching this And 1 street ball show on espn, and they all pretty much say they want a chance in the NBA. But, has anyone ever made it to the NBA?

Most street ballers are good at 1 on 1 and 2 on 2, and are not really into taking orders. They are also not very good at team playing. (Haven't you ever seen White Men Can't Jump?)
hehe

Rafer Alston - aka: Skip to my Lou - was on the Bucks for a brief stint. He's currently on a 10 day contract with the Raptors.

I was watching that this weekend. Those guys are insanely good. Did you see when that one dude dunked and the rim fell off and busted his head? :Q

The And1 team was playing a squad from New York, who were real good. One player on the And1 team (Black Widow...I forget his real name), summed it up when he said, "You can either play to show off your tricks or you can play to win. You can't do both."

These guys have flashy trick skills, not NBA skills.

Case in point: Skip to My Lou, real name Rafer Altson. He's an And1 legend, but an NBA scrub.

I believe Steve Francis was more or less a street baller before he went to a junior college and then MD and then the pros.

I think he means a well known street baller going straight to the NBA. I'm sure almost all NBA players played playground ball, and could fall into Stevie Franchise's category.

Even Rafer Alston went to college.

That being said. I don't think ANY of the street ballers on the And1 tour will make it to the NBA for any extended period of time.

Yes, and in the highlight they showed how he was so blatantly carrying the ball, and got called for travelling.

None of the moves you see the street ballers do are NBA legal.
Heck, even most of the moves the NBA players do aren't NBA legal :p

They really gotta enforce the travelling call, but I guess they don't because player's won't be able to do their highlight material.

Skip To My Lou (Rafer Alston) is with the Raptors right now and he's actually getting playing time, he played 30 minutes at PG mostly 2 nights ago.

Stephon Marbury, Rod Strickland, and Kenny Anderson were street ballers, I think.

I think I remember hearing on some show one day about Dr. J + Iverson playing street ball.

My brother says he heard Kobe played in high school.

Game 2: 30 min, 5-7 FG, 2-3 3ptm, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, --12 pts

Average

I betcha all these coaches (HS and younger) hate these And1 videos b/c kids want to be and do the moves like them which screws up the fundamentals of basketball.

Exactly! What the heck are people talking about calling him a SCRUB! Dang, scrubs don't do that on lenny wilkens' teams. The guy has been kickkkkin some serious booty since he signed a few days ago...was basically credited for ending torontos losing streak (with his unexpected input). Can he keep it up, maybe not at that level, but thats awesome so far.

Saw that the other night too. I died laughing. He is good but when i saw him do that and heard the announcers laugh, i couldn't hold it in.

Good numbers .. the ESPN thing on AND1 is great, he is really humble about his run in the NBA.

Big thumbs up here.:)

Saw the And1 show too, really impressed.

Will they make it to NBA? *Maybe*, eventually one or two of them(Besides Rafer, which is already in NBA now) will get a shot at NBA.
Will they do good in NBA? Nope, an average player in NBA at best.

IMHO, NBA is not ALL about skills, you need to have a good understanding of the game besides mad leaping ability or ball control.

I've heard Rafer's interview before and after he make it to NBA.

When asked, "Will any other of the And1 player make it to the NBA?"

Rafer's replied, "hmm..............No. Enjoy this moment [to And1 kids] while you can."

Wasn't Lloyd "Sweet Pea" Daniels a streetballer who made it with the Spurs for awhile?

Most pros were street ballers when they were young. Before and during high school. It's hard to have NBA scouts recognize you if you haven't proved that you can be succesfull in a team oriented game.

Even Mark Madsen can light it up in practice. My friend saw him shoot around. The guy does not miss his j's.
