Has any one ran an 8KHA+ with 768 MB of ram?

I just tried and a little chip next to the dimms started glowing. Burnt out my motherboard! The really sucky part is that it's 6 days out of the stor warranty so I have to wait a month for it to come back from RAM.

I know have an A7V266 to use in the mean time, but windows xp won't load with all 3 dimms populated. The memory isn't bad as I've moved it all around, and the board boots fine, I just can't get into windows.

And Christmas is supposed to be a happy day.

I am running three regular Crucial PC2100 256mb sticks in mine @ 165mhz FSB with all the most agressive timings with no issues...

I am running 2 - 512MB Dimms at a measley 133mHz with no prob, but I have not tried putting a chip in the third slot.

Good luck!

The board says it can support 3GB of DDR memory, and the board boots perfectly with the 3 256 MB dimms, it' just windows doesn't load all the way. I've run several memory testors and all 3 dimms work perfectly (so does windows with any combonation of less than 3). 2 of the sticks of ram are crucial and the other is a viking with nanya chips. It just doesn't make any sence.

There is an LED on the right side of the dimm slot that is supposed to be lit at all times.......
I'm running a single 256mb crucial pc2100 and have no trouble at all.

I have 2 sticks of Crucial and 1 stick of Corsair set to Turbo in the BIOS. I've only clocked the system to a little over 1500Mhz (Athlon 1600XP), but the system is rock solid.

I've posted this warning in several other threads already, but I'll do it again here. Be sure you put the memory in in the correct direction. The new KHA+ boards will let you seat AND LOCK the memory in place BACKWARDS! I did the same thing, luckily my memory still works, though I did burn my fingers! Be SURE the slots line up correctly.

What are your ram timings? If you don't mind.
