Has a member of AT ever died, that we know about? If so how did the fourms find out?

Although this thread has another option:

That was discussed and we determined that if his computer was set to come to the forums as a home page, it would show him as logged in... There was a thread looking for him that was up top for at least several weeks after 9/11, and there was never a response.

The theory on Hawkeyenj was that his real name was William Cashman. I contacted the Cashmans not long after all this hoopla and this was their reply. It definately was not him:

This is really odd, aren't everyone required to have an e-mail on file in order to stay registered?

The HawkeyeNJ topic has been run through pretty detailed a while back. He is not the guy they thought he was that died on the plane during the September 11 attacks. They made contact with the sister of that guy and she said that it was likely not him. I don't have time to search and find that long thread but it was either OT or HD and probably had his name in the topic.

Woah, I've been a member since the original forums in 1998 and never knew of anyone who died.....except the nowheremom fiasco which I fell for.

Most of the time, we would not know if the person has died unless a member of the family or friend posts it here. I believe Soccerman's brother is a member of the forum and posted it. The Hawkeye mystery was never really solved.
