OH MY GOD! this game is insane!

It's basically a really simple RTS\base defense game. It's an indie game made by OXEYE. there is a demo from their site. It's only like 54 MB.

You build your base with power plants and power links, harvest ore for money, and build turrets and missile launchers to defend your base from aliens.

Wave after wave of aliens come, each wave with more numbers and with more pwerful units. The last wave I made it to was f*cking insane! the aliens were all over the place and there were tons of them!

look at my mini map. The red is the enemy aliens!

Is the demo giving a good indication of the full game? I guess I'll have to try it to find about that myself, but I'm still curious, it's not my type of game but it may be a little refreshing from the current games I play. I wish it was on Steam right now. Do you own the retail or the just tried the demo?

Saw it on steam. Seems awfully simple, especially compared to defense grid. It's a tower defense game with a whole whopping 4 types of towers - not exactly inspiring.

Oh my God... I'm blind, indeed it is!

Thanks for the heads up, I'm considering it, certainly.

Reasonably fun, got to threat level 30 on first try without having any idea of the general strategy. If I were to play again, I'd build solar plants clumped in centre and build harvesters and defence in a circle out side of that. I just built kinda haphazardly though and learned the ropes. pretty cool concept, not it just needs multiplayer ie: who can survive the longest (blixels td anyone).

Got to threat 61 on second try. My tips: build lots of solar power, and for resources look what direction the enemy isn't coming from, build a quick wall of energy links out to the resources, a few harvesters, and get as much as you can until they rush you from that side, just keep building resources outside your base in whatever direction is safe... and lots of power!

I just searched for that game on YouTube and you can find some nice battles videos, one of them shows ten waves coming at once, and the guy's defenses hold it very nicely despite the seemingly infinite amounts of aliens coming at it.

Take a look for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wj-UC_1fInQ

he kind of cheated. he used creative mode where you can choose to have infinite money and not have any enemies attack at all. basically you could build any base design you want with unlimited money and not have to worry about attacks in between.

edit: i may be wrong. it was the wave menu bar i saw, not the creative one.

YEP, same here.
I did this one in a scrimage game with Company of Heroes. There was a map where I started off blocking all briges with tank traps and sand bags. The computer AI was set to insanely difficult and I basically just allowed time to pass for the AI to build its army. Then I setup defenses, blew up a part of the tank trap and saw a flood pour in. Its hella fun when you have all your defenses up.

I'll look into this, cause this sounds fun, as simple as it may seem (which is the point)

sounds like a wc3 custom map

it sort of reminds me of the tower defense games, except for a little bit more advanced.

that seems contradictory to me...it's simple in the first post, then it's more advanced then a tower defense? waaaat?

well in tower defense, you don't gather resources. you also have to manage power plants and power lines in harvest. also, the enemies in tower defense follow a specified path every single time. the enemies in Harvest come at random points and directions and times.

also, compared to other rts games, there are only 2 defensive structures, but they can be modified. you only like 5 structures to build.

compared to other fps games, it is pretty simple. compared to tower defense, it is more advanced. seems like a pretty simple concept to grasp to me.

I fended off all waves on the demo, i had 6 megalasers and for the last wave i build about 20-30 tempest missile towers, my base took damage on the last wave but survived in the end.

Managed to get to threat level 51 for normal mode, i cant beat that level 49-50 wave at all, theres too much of them and not enough cash.
