I remember picking up the SSR for a book report in 4th grade. I read half of it, then had to give an oral presentation. I basically made up the ending for my report, but then was hounded for more details, in front of the class, by this obnoxious fifth grade bitch (it was a split class) who had read the book.

That sucked.

One of the first scifi books I ever read was his Star Smashers of the Galaxy Rangers. While it was admittedly pure cheese, it was pretty fun cheese that got me hooked on the genre as a whole.
