My wife and I share an ebay account. We have like 140 feedbacks and all are positive. My wife is listing an item currently. She set a fixed price for shipping and handling of the item. We first received an email from a user saying that the shipping rate is way out of line and asked if the item was being hand delivered. We responded with " I am sorry you feel that way. And, please do not bid on my auction. Thank you."

This wacko wrote back saying "that fee you are charging is against ebay rules..........fees are part of doing business on ebay and they should not be charged to the buyer......"

My wife emailed her back say "unfortunately, your harrassment has made me report you to ebay." That was the nice version. I would have said something about her smoking cracm or something...

Anyway, is there an email that I can atleast report this wacko to on ebay?

She now says "maybe I will start a discussion group on ebay about your auction and noone will buy it....."

Either ignore them or respond to each email with the same thing you said the first time: "I am sorry you feel that way. And, please do not bid on my auction. Thank you."

Ugh, have you ever tried navigating through their discussion lists? Unless your item has a real niche market that gathers at ebay discussion groups, I wouldn't be concerned about this "threat." But you could report it to eBay and add them to your blocked bidder list.

thanks to johngute for finding this link to block bidders

This is the best response. If there is ever a question, do not bid!!!

We had an incident about a month or so ago and earned our first negative - in five years.

Had sold a hard drive on fleabay to an individual. He writes us back AFTER the warranty runs out and says the hard drive had failed. At the time, we had zero negatives and 819 positives. Now have 851. Anyway, the idiot states "Hopefully we can reach some agreement so that you might keep your feedback all positive".

So, we reported him to fleabay and he was suspended for extortion. We had even offered to replace the drive, out of warranty. He still left us a negative. Bear in mind I began trading on fleabay in August, 1996.

In your case, it's just like on Usenet. Don't respond to her. If you don't feed a troll, they will normally go away.

Lets get a few point straight here. She is indeed right that it is against the eBay policy to maliciously set price lower than the the product cost and charge tons on handling with an intent to make money without eBay involvement. Such example is selling "get rich quick now" sort of informative guide on a floppy $0.01 and shipping and handling charge of $4.99 when they really only pay $.32 cents for shipping. Floppy and an envelope cost more than 1 cent and it is clear that such action is maliciously done to avoid eBay fee.

Personally I experience alot more problem with transactions over eBay than I did a few years ago when it just started getting popular. There are ALOT of counterfeit items now. Many sellers don't hesitate to use brand name such as 10boxes of Scotch tape, when its really a generic tape. I've had that happened to me once and seller whined that it was just like its brand name counterpart(not at all, built crappy and price was too good to be true). He promised me a refund. I sent him the package back and man it was such a hassle getting my money back. I thought I lost $100 for good. The item in question was some CDR's. He used the term Infoguard® which is a registered trade mark of Kodak and I got some generic cheapies for twice the price of cheapies, but half the price of Kodak. After 2month of persistently emailing asking where my money is, I finally gave up and told him I knew he was getting my emails and if he choose not to pay me back, I was willing to call $20 my loss(deductible on eBay insurance) and was going to make an insurance claim with eBay on him for the $80 balance and I was going to file PS form 8165 on him(Fraud report). I guess that got him going, because I got my check the next week. It was so much hassle though.

The auction is for a nice leather purse from $130 - $180 and the shipping/handling is fixed at $10.

this is your typical case of stupidity. obviously, you have taken time to research shipping charges, and are making the price appropriate to what it will cost you. if they have a problem with it, tough. you dont need customers like that, who bitch about every little penny.

Nothing wrong with that. I know people who charge $10 for shipping 6 ounce parts via US Mail.

Ignore the person and they will go away.
