I get two phone calls/answering machine messages each day from a company that's trying to sell me satellite TV. They are both recorded messages. Isn't it illegal to have an autodialer with recorded message for soliticing purposes?

This has gone on for two months, so today I actually listened to the entirety of the message, and then pressed "1" to talk to a representative. I told the representative that his company was calling me two times each day, and that I had no interest in his product or satellite TV in general. I told him to stop calling me.

Then he said, "Can I say something to you?" And I said, "Yeah sure." Then he said, "****** you".

Yeah, real professional. :roll:
 
Is your number on the do-not-call list? If so, file a complaint with the do not call registry at donotcall.gov. If they continue to call, keep filing complaints for each time.... They'll get nailed.
 
After all these years, I signed my sister in law up for the No call thing.

Now she is so grateful she wants to jump my bones.

What should I do?

I have the same harrassment with Dish Network. And they know I am on the No Call List because I pressed 1 and got to talk to a guy named John and asked him why they keep calling me. he admitted, "I have you on the no call list in front of me" and then promptly hung up. I am now keeping a record of "jerry" and his calls and I am keeping track of their nymerous phone numbers from which they call. Very rarely have they called my home twice from the same number.
 
The whole thing has put a bad taste in my mouth regarding satellite TV. Even if these guys don't work for the company, the company is whoring out their marketing to these shady resellers who blatantly ignore U.S. law and swear at potential customers.

Dish Network is the worst, even if there are no marketting phone calls. My parents decided to sign up with them after seeing a booth at a mall, and I had to talk them out if it, as it really would be a pain for them to do everything they do with cable (multiple tv's, daily soap recording onto tape, etc.). Then they found out that cancelling the installation is a major pain, as the regional office has someone available to answer the phones a staggerring random one hour per week! They of course ignored all attempts to cancel the installation, and still sent a serviceman to do the install. When the serviceman was confronted with the explaination, he flat out lied by trying to convince my parents that they indeed did call the regional office back and confirmed they wanted to proceed with the install! Even listed off a date and time of this supposed confirmation phone call...
 
Register for a National Do Not Call list. If you already have, go to DNT website and file a complaint. Also make sure to register with your state as well and file a complaint. It works! I recently got tired of telemarketing calls from BellSouth and file a cmplaint, a week later BS called to follow-up on a letter from KY Attorney General's office and apologized whjole three minutes we were talking. Needless to say I havn't heard from them since.

QFT...Satellite is far better than cable. (at least in my area it is) however, you do lose the option of cable internet...
We had tons of problems with our local cable company, and finally dropped them for Dish Network. WOW...BIG difference in quality of service, as well as quality of customer service.

doing everything yous ay is hard is very easy with dish netowrk. mutltiple TV's? no problem. get a few machines or the duel turner models.

want to tape live tv? its just as easy as if useing cable. hell if you want get a DVR.

anyway you really do not have a clue.
 
To get back at these Dish telemarketers that are rude, use an air horn. Call them back from a pay phone or skype, or something.

Them: "Hi, this is [whoever] from Dish Networks..."

You: Give'em the air horn and then scream, <chappelle> "Bbyyyaahhh!!!" </ chappelle>
 
OP, next time they call, why don't you tell them that you already have their service? I was getting a few of those calls from SBC but everytime they've called they've hungup, took about 6 calls to get it through their ****** skull that I already had their internet :roll: But Now they haven't been calling ever since.

WTF are you talking about? Yes there are dual tuners, but that doesnt' do much good when they want 9 outlets with a tv signal. Start adding them all up and the extra tuners become very expensive. And no, not going to screw with a dvr, the soaps get recorded in through a pvr so that the file can be moved to a computer to pull out screencaps, edit the video, convert them to dvd, etc. Not going to mess with setting up the ir transmitter with the pvr card to turn on the tuner, too many things could not go right with that. Right now the house is set up with digital cable, two tv's have a tuner box, and the rest are on the regular analog cable.

Don't even begin insulting others when you have no clue what you're talking about. My rant was on their unbelievably rediculous customer service practices. Don't dare lecture me about being an idiot when all you do is assume the facts, and quite poorly at it too.

Look, if you use Dish Network and like it, that's fine. But never assume it is a perfect fit for all other people. Now *that* is flat out ignorance. The manner in which the service was to be used had nothing to do with the customer service idiots, so I didn't feel a lengthy detailed response was required. Besides, even if the tv services were adequate, there ain't no way in hell I would *ever* consider using Dish Network again after what sh*t tactics were used to try and continue the installation.
