I have read up up Eventghost, the program is pretty easy to understand. My problem is lying either in the Harmony software, EG, or possibly a combination. I built a HTPC for a friend and I'm trying to get the remote working correctly. I understand how EG works, but I'm still a bit confused. Let me explain
I set up a Media Center device in the Harmony software, I want it to launch XBMC, it insists on launching VMC. I went into advanced buttons and *thought* I found what I needed to change, but I'm either wrong, or I don't know what to change it to. I can get the remote to launch XBMC if the HTPC is already active, but I want to make the Harmony launch XBMC if he's not currently using the PC. As it stands if he's watching TV and presses the button I set to switch to his HTPC, VMC comes up. He's not using it and it just add's another step - exit out of it, then load XBMC.
Also if anyone here has a Harmony and uses it with XBMC, I'm sort of stumped at coming up with a button layout that flows. What I mean is, on the MCE remote that came with the IR Receiver. Everything is logical, I press the "back" button for back, the "info" button for info, even if I'm not looking at the remote it just seems natural what I need to press. on the Harmony (880) not so much so. The buttons on the sides of the screen at the top don't show up in EG when I try to bind them. So I'm guessing they can't be used, or at least set up in EG. Which leads me to wonder if there's not some way to take the XBMC codes and put them in the Logitech software? I'm sorry if I sound confusing here. I can't find a really good guide for this process. I know it's not hard, but my logic is interfering with my brain and I seem to be going in circles. I know I'm making it harder than it needs to be.
Right now I'm looking at the remote and if what I was getting from EG is right the only buttons I can program are the number ones and a FEW towards the top, I don't think this is right at all. What am I missing?
