Harmony 900 IR Blaster not working with Marantz SR5002

So after the dogs chewed up my Harmony One and the gf said she would replace it (was her idea to leave dogs out of cage when it was chewed up), she got me the Harmony 900 RF remote. I'm trying to set the IR Blasters up, but can't seem to get them to work with my receiver (Marantz SR5002). I have tried using both blasters and slowly moving them across the front of the display and from varying distances while turning the receiver "off" and nothing happens. As soon as I remove the receiver from the IR Blaster config, and use it like a normal remote (i.e. line of sight from remote to receiver) it works fine. The IR Blasters work perfectly fine with both the TV (Pioneer 5080) and Blu-Ray player (Sony BDR-XDR1 IIRC).

Any thoughts?

Call Logitech Harmony support man. If they cant figure out how to make it work, they'll have engineers write a profile and add it to your Harmony account for you.

It's not a matter of the profile for the receiver isn't there, because it is. The remote works perfectly fine if used as an IR remote. When I try to use it as RF with the IR Blaster towards the receiver though it does not work. Both blasters work with the TV and Blu-Ray however so I know they aren't defective.

I would still call Harmony support. I dont know if you've ever called them, but theyre top notch.

Called support. Told me to update firmware, they did some stuff on their end too and told me to update the remote once I did firmware.

Well I think something bricked the remote. I was tired of fucking with it and it seemed like there were hardware issues with that one, so I went back to BB and exchanged it. New one seems to be working better, however it still isn't doing the receiver through IR Blaster. So, time to call Logitech again tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be another hour long call like it was today.

Re: Harmony 900 and Marantz

I have similar experience setting up my Marantz A/V Reciever model SR 6400. Works just fine with IR signal from remote. Cannot get the blaster or mini-blasters to work with 6400. All other devices work just fine with blaster.

I switched from a Home Theatre IR/RF remote system to Harmony. The Home Theatre system worked just fine previously with all devices. I have called Harmony support. Despite always waiting 30-60 minutes for an answer, the helpdesk are generally helpful. But, I have exhaused first level support knowledge/capabilities and they tell you second level will call you back in 4-5 days. Well, after 2 additional calls on status and 5 weeks later, I still have not gotten that second level support person to call.

Last time, the help desk said they had a 'memo' regarding Marantz and no solution existed. Let me know what kind of response you get from Logitech.

You may be looking at an instance of a receiver that is using a non routine frequency for the IR and the blaster may not support that. When you send IR it is mixed with a modulator frequency so the receiver can still see it when a room has things like sunlight or cfl bulbs for lighting. The IR frequency used varies from device to device but there are a few standard ones used, 36KHz, 38Khz are the two main ones. Some brands like Marantz also use 40KHz and 56Khz.

It may be that the remote control has support for those frequencies but the IR blaster does not. Without the ability to modulate the signal at the correct frequency it doesn't matter if the remote sends the correct commands, the receiver will not see them.
