Harmony 880 remote question

My friend has this remote, and he claims the charging base is very washy, as do a lot of the so-called reviews I read on it off Amazon. Some people claim Logitech fixed it, and the newer shipments don't have the issue. But I can't find any information to back that up. My friend complains that it will suddendly stop charging a lot for no reason. This seems to be the main complaint I see in reviews, was wondering if Logitech did infact fix it in newer models.

RMA'ing won't work (I haven't bought it yet) if the charging base problem hasn't been fixed in the first place. A lot of people say they will put it on the base, it will be charging, then for no reason will suddendly stop. As nice as I find this remote to be, if this is going to be a constant issue I'd rather not deal with it until Logitech corrects the problem and re-releases a newer model.
