The HK595 3 piece speaker set from Harmon Kardon features a large subwoofer enclosure with a 6" driver and a pair of sweet sounding satellites. Thanks to the sturdy solid wood and ported design, the subwoofer plays accurately all the way down to 35Hz. Each 11.5" tall satellite features a 1/2' dome tweeter flanked by 2" midrange driver above and below.

The Surround mode in the HK595 is provided by VMAx, an image-processing algorithm that re-creates a four speaker sound field from two speakers. You can access this mode from the control satellite which also features adjustments for volume, bass, treble and balance.

I have these, they came with my Dell that I bought in 1999. They good back in the day... For $20 you get a lot of bass at least. :)
