Update #2: I'm not buying it. Apparently the bike has a junk title in the state of Texas so I'm going to pass on it. She said she bought it at an auction and wasn't aware that it had a junk title. She ran a carfax report on it for me this morning and found this out.

Too bad too. The bike looked really clean. Oh well...

All the 4-speed Sportys have junk gear boxes. The 5-speed is OK...I guess, if you want an underpowered poser. Very poor platform to pose from IMNSHO.

Get a HOG not a piglett :) if you seek HD cred.

I ride BMW, Moto Guzzi and Ducati.

Just stick to petting the carbon fiber bike next to your desk yuppie :p

Bah, I was mainly interested in getting it because the price was right. I wasn't really even looking at HDs in particular. I almost bought a Moto Guzzi a few months ago that a friend was selling but he wanted too much for it...more than I wanted to spend anyway. :p

Is this a good deal? Anyone here know of these things?

Update: I checked out the bike this evening. I wasn't able to ride it or start it up as it needs a battery. The woman selling it agreed to let me take to the Harley dealer to have it inspected and serviced and she'll deduct the cost of a service and new battery from the price. She seems very straight up with me and I think it is a good deal so I put a deposit on it.

As for comfort I'm 5'11" and it felt fine to me just sitting on it. Talk about comfort, I ride a road racing bicycle thousands of miles a year. I think this bike will be fine for weekend cruising and the occasional ride in to work.

As for the girl's bike B.S., I don't give a crap what other riders think. I'm not riding for them...I'm not even sure I'll get hooked into this but at least I'll be able to sell this bike for what I paid for it if I don't. And it's a Harley!!! :p

I always wanted to learn how to ride and get a bike. I came pretty damn close to it last year when I almost bought a new bike. I was deciding between the Virago and the Honda Rebel.

Yeah how do they compare in price? I love how the Truimph looks, are they easy to work on like the Sporty?

the 883 is a bit underpowered, but the 1200 is pretty quick after paying your taxes...will outrun many of the big twins...and out corner them as well...

Im 5'11 close and I weigh between 190-200lbs, depending on the time of the year. Will this bike be too small for me?

That's a far cry from $3500!

And it's a far cry from a junk title, 10k miles, sitting for 2 years, and a dead battery.

Well, I was going to have the bike gone over by the local HD dealer. Have them change all the fluids and the battery and she would deduct the cost of those repairs from the price. As long as HD gave it a clean bill of health I would have gone ahead with the purchase but when I found out about the junk title I decided to pass. The mechanic at HD recommended that I pass on it as well. His exact words were, "Don't even mess with it."

At least she was honest with me about the bike and didn't jerk me around. She's the one who ran the carfax on it and faxed it to me. I don't think she was aware it had a junk title.
