not that i don't have FINALS, 5 Page Papers and other assignments due in the next week but i manage to always find ways of NOT DOING homework. did a few things hardware related and it's gonna make me feel better.
1. always wanted to hook up the Sonata front audio jack to the Abit NF7-S audio headers but i was too lazy when i first built the computer. I knew the manual for the Sonata was not right so i went and read the online manual.
-- put it together and only audio in the left ear
-- fix and retry. no headphones and no speakers. nothing works.
-- fix and retry. speakers work but the left and right are messed for the headphones
-- fix and retry. the Sonata or ABIT left and right audio pins are backwards.
-- woohoo. front headphones work. also got front mic to work.
2. when i got my rig together, i managed to rip a wire from the lead on the stock heatsink fan. made it useless. it's ok, i planned and ordered the SLK800 and 80mm Panaflo.
++ ripped wire from lead on stock heatsink fan.
++ played with the wires, pulled out lead and stuffed the wire and crap together
++ fan works. spins and plays nice.
=-= had a 80mm panaflo bare leads and no way to connect it to the CPU FAN header on the mobo
=-= got around to stripping some 3 pin headers from older wires and connecting wires together.
=-= fan works. spins and plays nice.
which brings me to a few questions.
the stock amd fan is prolly 60 x 15.
the panaflo is L1A 80 x 38.
when i connected them both to my other rig, it felt as if the stock AMD fan was pushing more air and was just as quiet as the panaflo. or is just the panaflo bigger and i can't feel that much air being pushed?
is there a difference between panaflo L1A made in Japan and China? i've got one from each. i didnt copy down the numbers on them but they look very similar. maybe one's older than the other?
