I'm considering getting a netgear rt311. Would this be compatable with nt, linux, 98, 2000, etc? Also, I'm using vpn software to access my companies intranet. Would that likely be a problem? TIA

The Netgear rt311 can work with most operating systems. If you are using more than one computer you will need a hub/switch because this router only has one lan port. Buy the rt314 if you want the built in switch, I have the rt311 because I bought it before the rt314 came out :frown:. I have had trouble trying to forward ports, might be trouble with a VPN.

Okay, I emailed netgear and found out their router would not support the nortel vpn software. :( Is their one available that will? TIA

You might have trouble finding any nat based router to work as a pass thru with Nortels VPN Client if it keeps the authorization in the head of the packet. NAT routers have to change the source address of the packet when they are sent out and to the VPN it seems as if the packet is tampered with.
