i want to run a hardware raid in a mac pro 08, but with the following caveats:

it has to be bootable
i wont be running Mac OS

i see that mac released a RAID card for the mac pro 08 (which is now only available second hand), but from the limited reading i've done, it only support Mac OS

i have also read that it is possible to get other RAID cards to work, but they are not bootable

everything i've read so far is from last year, does anyone know if there have been any developments on this front?

thanks for the tip. i am a little concerned about buying such a cheap RAID card, the highpoint brand does not have a great reputation afaik, and there is no battery backup option. also, a quick examination of your links found no evidence that it could BOOT to windows from a Mac Pro even though it does say it "supports" Windows

on the other hand, i found this card http://www.barefeats.com/hard105.html that specifically says it boots to Windows, and has a BBU option. Never heard of the brand before... :p
