Hardware Question: my monitor...

Curious about something... I have a Sony Multiscan CPD-E400 19" FD Trinitron which is just over a year old. Lately I've been having some troubles with it. A lot of lines/flickering will just start to go across the screen and I have to turn off the monitor and back on to get it back to the way it should be. I run at 1600x1200 @ 70 Hz. I've heard this can be caused by power loss to the monitor, and I'm in a dorm, so that might be the case. It's annoying though, sometimes it will happen 2-3 times a day, other times not for a week or so. Anyone else have any advice?

If it's still within waranty, take it back immediately. Trust me. (I lost my first 17" monitor I bought for college this way, paid $600 in 1995 for it) Even if it's inconvenient and you have to make do for a few weeks with a 14" from the closet, do it. I'd suggest getting a UPS, but that never seemed to help me in the dorms, either. Regardless, it's a precurser to bad things to come, damage has most likely been done.

Swap the power cord too. Good luck.
