Hardware question: Is there a place like McMaster-Carr, except with cheap import junk?

Yeah, a fun question. McMaster has a great selection and all that, but their stuff is usually name-brand and pricey. For example, their set of helping hands is $26.40.

I'm mainly after cheap Harbor-Freight-quality hydraulic dampers, at least for now, along the lines of McMaster's 3743K11, but I'll likely be looking for other cheap-crap-grade components in the future.

Yay for tight budgets. :(

MSC has sales from time to time.

I would have thought they could measure the stress on a drill press by watching the current into the motor -> fed back into the power feed?

These drills are entirely pneumatic.

Neat place, thanks.
And $70 may be perfectly good, I just don't have any real point of reference for this sort of thing.

Or you could just buy the good stuff.

McMaster, MSC and Grainger are all pretty good.
I've heard of MSC, but not Grainger. Thanks for that.

Yeah, normally I like to go with good-quality stuff too, but these drills were bought cheap at an auction. There were 8 drills. 4 of them work....mostly. The rest will likely need to be taken apart and thoroughly cleaned; I imagine that their guts are gummed up with oily sawdust.

So spending money on good-quality accessories for these things, whose days are already numbered, just might not be the best use of said money.

Heh, yeah no kidding. It's a trip back to 1990.

Anyway, another price reference to indicate that McMaster is a bit pricey.
A toggle clamp at their site, 50215A3, 475lb capacity: $80.17.
Harbor Freight, item 96238-1VGA: $5.

(Sorry for no direct links - for whatever reason, my clipboard isn't working right now, and I'm too lazy to retype the URLs.)

Edit: I just tracked down the "proper" damper that's made to fit on this particular pneumatic drill. Cost: $971.
