Just installed a P4S533 and am getting a "hardware monitor has detected an error" message each time I boot. I know I can get this on my own eventually, but I thought some of your P4 experts might be able to help me out quickly.

CPU temp after 3-5 boots is about 30C so I don't think that is it.

Would appreciate you're help!

When you boot, go into the Hardware Monitor section of your BIOS and see what it reads. You can also double check by installing PCProbe or Motherboard Monitor. The latest version of MBM does support the P4S533 with the appropriate dll. Your error message is probably something insignificant like fan speed. You can turn off the alarm.

P4-2.0@2.66
ASUS P4S533

Modded Promise RAID 0 with IBM 75GXP x2 (yeah, I know)
Matrox G400 DH (no gaming)

On board sound (not quite as good as SB Live 5.1, good enough)
Visioneer 7700 (couldn't resist the memory card reader)

Thanks! That takes care of that.

Am now getting an "Error while initializing NDIS - windows protection" error. I didn't want to reformat my hard drive so I am installing this on a hard disk which had an AMD board in it. OS is Windows 98.

If I select Step-by-step confirmation and skip loading the ndis.vxd driver I make it into Windows.

Have installed Windows 98 twice but get the same error at boot.

Any ideas?

Asus probe version 21701 works pretty well with this board. Reported temps are only about 3 degrees lower than the bios hardware monitor.

There was an NDIS fix for Win 98 on certain speed CPU's, I forget the exact fix, but I know Thugsrook posted it once, maybe try searching that authors posts....it might also be listed in the stress testing apps on the CPU/Overclocking area...
