Hardware installation question

I'm about to build a system with a LAN Party UT 250 Gb mobo running Windows XP. I've never installed new hardware under anything except Win 98 so here's my silly question:

I'm assuming Windows will run through and hopefully detect all the new hardware. When it comes to the vid card I will choose VGA driver, then install the latest Geforce drivers afterwards. When it comes to the motherboard, if it asks for a place to search for the drivers, should I just select cancel, then install the latest nForce drivers when I'm at the desktop? I haven't installed a new mobo before, so I don't even know what to expect, but I anticipate it will have to detect the onboard LAN and sound card. Thanks for the help.

I would do a fresh install, formating the hardrive first. Newer versions of windows sometimes won't upgrade from win98, but you can try it if you need to save some files. I couldn't get a friend's pc to load win2k from 98 first edition, due to some old dos files on his system. Some driver cd's have an "easy install" feature that loades all the basic mobo drivers, rebooting once or twice to finish.
