Meh. By the time the replacement is out, that's usually when the last generation is locked in, all the quirks are documented, and everything finally works.
What showstopping bugs has WS2012R2 had?

Im asking as I honestly dont know.

Honestly, Dell has just been f'd up when it comes to making a sale. No comunication or contact by their part on wanting to sell a server. Im contacting HP these days and see what they have.

Any product line I should ask for in a 2U form factor?

I don't know either. I ignore these things at least until the first couple service packs are out. More as a matter of habit, I guess.

Im more of the latest kind of guy and Ive never had huge issues

Was the upgrade from Windows 2012 to Windows 2012 R2 free? (Like Windows 8 to Wndows 8.1)?

Server 2012 R2? Not many, but that's the idea behind the R2, it's like Windows 8.1 to Windows 8 or Windows 7 to Windows Vista. The original 2012 release was as big of a change as Windows 7 to Windows 8.

Another big part of the overall picture is 3rd party support. They don't necessarily have everything working the day the new OS comes out.

The emails from your Dell sales people should have a their manager's email in the footer, give that a shot. Also, since you're at a smaller shop, you might get more attention from a VAR than by going direct.

As for HP's product line, you'll want to look at the DL180 Gen9 and DL380 Gen9.

R2 releases are paid upgrades (because Microsoft), at least they have been for 2008 and 2012.

Sadly, no email.

Yeah, I thought that was the case.

Was there any announcement today about Windows Sever "10"?

Thank you for all the replies :)

I had to contact a Dell partner and they will this week give me a offer.
HP does not sell servers directly. I have to contact one of their partners. Lets see what they give me.

BTW, we are getting the R520 because we think its pretty good for a SOHO....

The R720 get amazing reviews everywhere but its a bit more expensive....Im not sure if it is worth it or not.
