Hardware failing...

For the last two days, my PC has been acting uneasy.
I was using emule on one 200GB drive, bitcomet on another 200GB drive.
When either one of them opens, application freezes from time to time for seconds.
Late last night, it even gives me "delayed write failed" message.

Then I used SeaTool to do quick scan on both drives (one Maxtor, one Seagate) this morning. Each of them showed me four bad sectors. I did the test repeatedly. And they came up four bad sectors (different sector# from previous test) each time.

I have been wondering how come both drives fail the same time. Then I tested the controller (shown "unknown controller" in SeaTool) since both drives connect to the same Ultra ATA 100/133 PCI adapter card (came with Maxtor HD). And it failed.

Now I wondering if both of my HDs are truly failing or there are some other factors involved.

Any idea?

It seems no one knows...

It was scary when application froze and heard cracking noise from PC.

Not sure which one (hardware or software rearrangement) works, but after switched cable to another port of the Ultra ATA PCI adapter and did some registery memory tweak, everything seems back to normal, nothing scary happens so far.

Hope the HDs remain healthy. 🙂
