(SRS Thread, please)

Hardware experts: I've got a conduit chase nipple here.

Problem is, I need that same thing, except I need it to be longer. (Dimension B on the diagram there.) Also, reasonably priced is good.

This is what I need - except the $5.27 price is kind of ridiculous, considering that the shorter ones cost only about 1/10th that. (I need around 150 of them, so that price is not an option.)

Are there any other terms I could be looking for to find this sort of thing?

Thank you.

home depot.

Chase nipple is what it is called....so not sure what other thing you could search for.

BTW: My job buys these. We get them at Grainger. I would imagine shipping would kill it, however.

I looked at that. The amount of threading on either end of those things is the same as what it is on the short chase nipples. (Check McMaster's drawing of part# 4549K573. The threaded portion is only 0.53" long.)

These things are to be fitted to a piece of aluminum extrusion, with a threaded lock washer on the other side, and then a conduit will screw onto the remaining threading. Problem is, once the nipple goes through the extrusion, and then the lock washer is in place, there's only about 1 thread available for attaching the conduit.

The standard (short) chase nipples are apparently made to fit into an electrical box, which is thin sheet steel - not a thicker aluminum extrusion.

True story,

One of the ladies in the office always has a funny look on her face when we're talking chase nipples.

"Well we could route it here"
"How about just throwing a chase nipple on there for protection?"
"Yeah! Chase nipple would be great"
"Agreed, I really like chase nipples, especially for this"
"So everyone agree on using the nipple?"
