Hardware error on bootup and then intermittently

Couldn't find this one on the Microsoft site....maybe one of you can suggest something - this is a new Dell Optiplex:

"The Specified I/O operation on\Device\Harddisk1\DR2 was not completed before the time-out period expired"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wrong category BTW. That is typicly a sign of a bad harddrive but a bad stick of memory can cause the hard drive error.
