Achieve 500W Dual Fan P4 Ready Power Supply (Retail Boxed)

This affordable power supply offers an entry level option for higher power applications. While it may exhibit greater voltage drop under full load and offer less headroom than other units costing $100 or more, the Achieve AX500.N represents an excellent value. When a 300W to 400W generic PSU simply will not suffice, the AX500.N is the perfect choice if you are on a limited budget.

I think it looks pretty decent for the price. What is so crap about it, the description? They said " it may", which is totally different that "it would". So, you can read the description as ' not as good as PSU's that cost $100 or more' but they hint that it 'maybe' as good as other PSU's below $100. There's a lot of good PSU's under $100. Lets say that even if its perfomance is as good as a $80 430w Antec True Power, its a steal at $29. The only way to confirm that its really crap is if somebody bought it and reports some feedback.

If you're serious about performance (especially OC'ers) and stability, and you've invested considerable amounts of money into components in your rig, its a $50 gamble that simply isn't worth it. Self-Masichists might dig it though, but then again they might enjoy the hours of banging their heads against the wall with the chance of inflicting injury (to their components and their wallets) that are associated with taking a chance on a low quality PSU. You could probably tell its quality (or lack thereof) by simply opening it up.
