Hardware Approval

Hi All,

I have been relatively out of the loop with hardware for the past few years, i hadnt updated my pc in quite sometime. I am now building basically a new system, using a few old parts and am not getting any new HD's. Basically just need to purchase motherboard, video card, processor, power supply, and ram. Just wanted some approval to make sure that what i have picked out is compatible and good to go. I also wondered with the following what power supply should i be looking to purchase as far as wattage/voltage/etc with my motherboard? Also, is my ram acceptable choice for a 256 x 2 dual channel kit? Any other options for ram at a similar price for 256 x 2 is appreciated if you think i'd be better off.

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 Socket 939 ULi M1695 ATX AMD Motherboard

SAPPHIRE 100595L-BL Radeon X700PRO 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3000BPBOX

Kingston ValueRAM 512MB (2 x 256MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model KVR400X64C3AK2/512 ???

Power Supply ???

Thank you all.

mobo is good, i like that.

I would go for a better grafx card. You'd be better off with a 6600gt/6800gt pref the 6800gt tho.

3000+ is good, wouldn't recommend any other single-core really, as you can oc the heck out of that one.

512 mb just isn't going to cut it really, especially if youre going to be gaming or anything. You are going to want at least 1 gb, and Vista (if you upgrade to that) recommends 2gb. (if you decide to go 1gb go corsair valueselect, one of neweggs top sellers, 2x512)

go with a enermax psu, probably 400-500 watts (depends on what type and how many hds you have)

Looks like a good system to me. It all depends on what you'll be doing with it, though. If you're a hard-core gamer, It may be better to go with at least 1gb of ram and at least a x800/6600gt/6800 video card.

thats a great motherboard if you want future upgradibility. as of right now, this is the most upgradable motherboard on the market, its also a great performer

get a Radeon X800 for less than $180 or X800XL for around $230.

this Sapphire X800 is top notch

get Crucial 2 sticks of 512MB. its around $100 total

this power supply Fortron Blue Storm 400W for $67.

you can also get the 500W version of this for $91.

Thank you Reliable Data, Kogan, and Raildogg. I'm all set, i appreciate all of your help immensely!! Looking forward to my neweggg 🙂
