I've got to get my new rig (see sig) from Massachusetts (not out of Logan, thankfully) to Washington (state) for a 1-month stay near Seattle and I don't want to take any chances. I'm calling up the airport tomorrow morning to see what my options are, I'd like to avoid spending $200 for insured UPS and the safest options I see are to take out critical components and carry on, but I don't want to freak anyone out after what happened in the last year.
questions/comments? also...with the new stronger x-rays, is that a threat to recent hard drives at all? are these questions silly?

edit: forgot to mention, the last two years my best friend brought his out for 1 month stays and both trips were just fine... but this is all NEW stuff so I don't want to take too much of a chance... ahh, college summers gotta live em while ya can. oh yeah, and my friend has a 17" mon I can use so...it is just the base/peripherals.
