Not sure if Kyle's contacts are better or worse than anyone else's but he was willing to go on record in his 5850 review 5850 review about the future of nvidia cards.
Obvious bit ouch if true. I wonder if nvidia is having that hard of a time. If so, one wonders if they'll dumb down the card for a faster launch or keep plugging away until Feb 2010 and get into a price war until then. By Feb 2010, AMD might even have enough time for a refresh to keep the pressure on them.
If we don't hear anything SOLID from nvidia by the time Windows 7 is officially launched, I'd have to say, Kyle is doing his homework.
We think the ATI Radeon HD 5850 is "THE" next-gen video card that gamers and hardware enthusiasts are going to flock to.

On the flip side of this, many hardware enthusiasts are asking, where is NVIDIA? The fact is that NVIDIA has no products to immediately answer AMD?s 5800 series and it is our understanding that it will be late February at the earliest before we actually see a next-gen GPU show up from NVIDIA in the retail channel
