You can have up to six monitors with an AMD card. 2x1, 3x1, 4x1, 2x2, 3x2. http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/gpu50-ati-eyefinity-display-configs.aspx No 5x1 listed there because it's an older chart.

You can do 5x1 portrait mode now with AMD cards. http://hothardware.com/Reviews/AMD-Radeon-HD-6870-CrossFire-with-5x1-Eyefinity-5x1/

Even on some lower end cards you can have 4 monitors. With Saphire flex you can have 3 of them with just DVI monitors.

5 monitor support for only $120. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150566

With certain special models , like you have pointed out. You can have eyefinity 5, or eyefinity 6. But that is not a standard option for models that offer eyefinity. Regular models that offer eyefinity start at 3 monitor support. One has to use a display port. If you read Saphires web site , or the foot notes at AMD, they refer to display port hubs and daisy chaining. Products, that were not even currently sold, according to some of the foot-notes. At the 6 series launch.

I take Kyle for what he is:

http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1037449738&postcount=166

He doesn't try to be anybody but himself and that is why he is so refreshing and why HardOCP is a success.
that is fine accept for the fact that he acts like an asshole to his own forum members and will ban you in a heartbeat. maybe some deserve it but most don't. he also acts like a complete child and very unprofessional for someone running a tech site. I have there for 6 years so I know exactly how he can be.

I got banned from HardOCP the reason given was "no reason". Never went back to that site. HardOCP is full of fail. Very unprofessional and horrible mods there. I'll tell you what, the mods probably never graduated college because if you threw a fit over some constructive criticism, you would fail a class faster then you can do a Neo "woah".

Their "fanboy" fascination is a little out of control, facts are optional.

I think I would do more reading here and less at [H] if Anand would get rid of the bright white background. A black background is so much easier on the eyes. Even gray would be better than white. And yes I'm serious, it really does annoy me that much.

I prefer GPU reviews from HardOCP
I prefer CPU reviews from Anandtech

Also General Mayhem is much much much better than Anandtech Politics and News.

Have you checked out the techreport for GPU reviews? I have found their Apples to Apples comparisons more informative than the [H] apples to oranges reviews.

I have a similar problem. I just blame my blue eyes for the problem and turn down my monitors brightness.

I try to read them all based on one may offer differentiation on data or have a compelling data point. I do like some of the aspects of HardOCP because of them playing the titles to decipher which GPU offers a superior gaming experience. A lot of it is subjective, but that is okay; the site offers differentiation and no one forces anyone to read it.

My favorites are Computerbase, PC gameshardware and HardwareFR but also like Ryan's work here at Anands and HardOCP. I like Kyle, he has passion and has strong convictions and may be abrasive to some, there is no fake with him, imho. edit: I'm also liking AlienBabeltech for the sheer amount of data, work and testing.

6 monitors as a single display is offered, and supported, by AMD on a single gpu. You can point out the limitations, if you want to, but that doesn't change the fact that it is offered and supported on many, if not most, current AMD cards. No, you can't take any six monitors and just plug them into any six sockets in the card. There are certain hardware requirements.

nVidia only offers support for 3 monitors as a single display and requires 2 GPU's. This card (and I believe one other) offers up to 4 monitors as a single display (plus a fifth as a separate display) from a GPU. It's not an nVidia feature and nVidia doesn't offer any support, as far as I know. It's the board partner that offers it with third party hardware. Good on Galaxy for offering this feature to their customers. I'm glad [H] recognized them for it.

The fact is hardOCP is a joke now vs its heyday, it USED to be a good site. But its like the geocities of tech sites now.

HardOCP started as a page where overclockers could compare their overclocks with others. I remember the comparisons with all of the Celeron 300A overclocks. Kyle got lucky with the site due to this popularity.

I remember that too. Started out as just a few pages about a 300A running at something like 604Mhz. Started out good but went bad when it became "all about the money".

Yeah, im not going over there anymore. i remember hearing of their good gpu reviews. but with direct contact with kyle, no thanks. he wont get my click-ad money. if anything he seems more like a joke. a fatal1ty wannabe. i even found a personal blog where someone was trying to have a giveaway for their members (who doesnt like free publicity and stuff), but he banned them and acted like a child.

If you tried to use this forum for a give away to generate some publicity for your site, it probably wouldn't go over well either. That's not really that out of the ordinary.

Anyway, yea, this thread is old.
