Pretty much was is expeced so far. A lot of CPU limited situations and the games that arent the 7800GTX appears to be as fast as 6800 Ultra SLI.

Obviously 7800GTX SLI blows away the competition.

A very modest 20% increase from Ultra to GTX in Doom 3 @ 1600x1200 4x/8x.

It must be CPU limited in damn near everything.

Looks like 1920x1440 and 2048x1536 gaming is here for those that wanted it, hell probably with AA+AF.

Heh and I just bought a 2001FP.

Although debating if I should keep it as my old 19" Samsung has better picture quality and can run a higher resolution.

The only thing the 2001FP has is coolness factor being an LCD vs CRT.

If it was CPU limited why would the 7800 SLI be much faster than the 7800 single?

if it's CPU limited... hmm so to take advantage of 7800, I'll first have to spend $600 on the card itself, then drop a $1000 on a FX57, and another $1000 for a Dell 24" LCD... something is wrong here.

Because the single isnt CPU limited, the Ultra SLI and GTX SLI are.

There is something fishy about these benchmarks. I am not saying they are wrong, just suspect IMO.

If you look at Anandtech's high end card roundup in HL2, you'll see in that every test AT ran @ 1280x1024 no AA/AF the 6800 Ultra scored over 100 fps in every benchmark except one, but in the HardSpell review, the Ultra pulls in 68.1 fps at 1024x768 no AA/AF... Why? They both used an Athlon 64 4000+...

Hell, Hardocp get 91 fps average out of a BFG 6800Ultra OC at 1600x1200 2xAA/16xAF.

That was already here with the last generation of single cards.

Ah... For the kind of games that we saw at last E3 show with HD-realistic games where a character moves and behave a look like a human being, physics -enabled objects everywhere. we need 4x the performance of top end GPU card with multi-core CPUs!!!

I believe that in the really near future you will SLI or multi-core GPU on a single ship!

Looks very slow. Clock an 6800ultra/gt to 430/1200 and I bet the scores would be the same. This is definity a "skip" generation if these scores hold.

It's not a skip if you're on a 9800 ;)
Luckily I won't be buying until after ATi have "released" their card.
I'm also going to wait for more reliable (AT) numbers before judging the 7800, but early indications from *heavily* overclocked Mark 05 scores make it seem like it might not be "all that".
The transparent AA does look promising though, have to see if ATi have anything comparable, normally they're the ones with AA features (eg: temporal AA)
