Nah... I bought mine for $160 w/RAID. Take a 8kha+ and a RAID card... it's the same price.

This board is awesome... out performs the KR7A-RAID but lacks ATA/133 support... Having 2 ATA/133 drives, I cant decide between the two... hmmm hmmm

i went and read that article, and yes if your not going to be overclocking the asus board does outperform the abit, however the max FSB that he could achieve
was 166, and as many of you already know, i am running my KR7a-Raid STABLE at 185, and i can get it up to 192 and have it be stable enough to run
benchmarks, but not enough to use, and at 195 it finally pukes ... so no, i argue that the abit is truly the better enthusiast board.

Love that Sig Jagoff.

Do you think Abit will have any of the same problems with the caps on their new motherboards? I lost
two KA7's because of the problems with them. I love Asus but their damn prices are too high.

Your running a 1333 Tbird he is running a 1800Xp, you really cant compare the two overclocking.

Agree with SpeedTester. Also, you might want to look @ the HardOCP site a little closer acidpad. They do have a review of the KR7A and it does not overclock as well as the A7V266E with a XP1800+. Use your noggin next time.

HardOCP? Give me a break. These are the same people that claim 38 MB/s is "great" from RAID 0(KR7A review). I'll wait for someone who knows what the hell they're doing first.

HAHA! I have to agree! Hardocp is run by a bunch of hicks who know nothing about hardware.

Yeah and these are the guys that found out about the Quake, Quack issue... and several others. Bottom line boys, if you don't have something to add that is of value and relevant to the post, go somewhere else.

I thought that Asus already has their boards O/C from the factory already, granted it aint much but prolly why they seem to always score higher. I had 2 asus and they were ok but the last two abit boards I have had (kt7a and KG7-RAID) been wonderfull. I just ordered the KR7A-RAID today, can't wait to try it out :)

HardOCP is a pretty decent website IMO. I also agree with them about the A7V266-E, it's a great board. However, I don't think the performance is significant enough to say it's better than the KR7. I believe that when you're considering buying boards with the same chipset, the features are what's most important. Personnally, I wanted the 5.1 and RAID on board so I went with the A7V, but the KR7 has ata133 and 4 DIMMs which I didn't care for. It's just a matter of choosing what's right for you.

My post was relevant, unless your definition of relevant is "agrees with me". The evidence that supports the claim of the original post comes from a highly questionable source.

And overclocking potential is a bad way to compare boards. This run of boards Asus got the good chips. Maybe next batch Abit will. Or Soyo. or MSI. Hell, 2 identical boards could have totally diferent overclocking results.

This is the comparison that I have been waiting for. Too bad I already received my Abit board. I guess I will send it back.

Kyle and his crew are as good as Anand and his crew. Here, Hardocp, Aceshardware, Tom's, and Lostcircuits all do a very good job. Chris Tom from Amdzone does a nice job as well. What site do you run?

Sorry, I already have a job but I don't need to run a website to know flawed reviews when I see them. And while Anand's reviews have been slipping in quality lately they're still light years ahead of ones on a site like HardOCP. BTW Tom's is the biggest joke of them all.

The difference is so small its inconclusive. Another KR7 sample may come out ahead and another Asus sample on a different review come out ahead again.
If the difference is 15% and above and its consistent, then we can say another mobo is superior. But so far its inclonclusive.
