Hahah, yeah Top Gun was tough. I was young when I played it though, I had a hell of a time landing on that carrier. But my vote does go to TMNT, man, that was a tough game for a kid.

Battletoads was very hard. I could barely ever get past the 3rd level w/ the hovercrafts. You had to have the thing memorized and have almost perfect timing. I always played it with my brother and it was nearly impossible to get through that race with 2 people.

but ikari warriors 2 was the worst for me. I couldn't even get to the third level.

Battle Toads was awesome. A friend of mine and I could each beat it single player (no warping), but we could never do it two player where both of us survived to the end. There was a glich on the second to last board where the second bike didn't move, so player 2 to had to use a continue to get to the last stage. Extra cheap.

THe original contra, without the 30 man code is pretty damn challenging too. castelevania 3 as well.

Hell, even the original metroid was pretty dman impossible without some sort of guidebook.

NES games are still porbably the hardest out there.

I've beaten blaster master with a LOT of practice. Loved that game.

TMNT one was doable. Ninja Gaiden - I've gotten very close.

I've beaten the original G&G.

The original metal gear was quite a challenge, don't think I ever beat it.

Although a game not even worth mentioning, who framed roger rabbit was IMPOSSIBLE.

Top Gun was hard, but I beat it.

Ghosts n' Goblins, FREAKIN' RIDICULOUS! I beat it though, but I almost broke my NES when I got to the princess the first time and the game told me I had to do it all over again! :|

Contra: without the cheat it's almost impossible. the only reason I could do it with 3 lives is because I was obsessed with that game as a kid and my friend and I played it all the time. Ahh, the good ol' days

Ninja Gaiden: Never beat it. I think the third was the easiest, but even that was hard as hell.

this man speaks truth...punch out is learnable. after playing ti a while, i could beat it

ghost n goblins is so freaking frustrating...it is impossible!
