I was looking for a HDD and it seems every hDD out there has half the people saying it fails and the other half swearing by it .... (only talking a few companies here .. maxtor can go and well ... get "creative" with itself)...

I searched the forums and I cant seem to find a single HDD recommendation out there.... I know some of us don't care as long as it does not fail .... but I want to know whats good whats better and whats less likely to fail...

I need a 500 or a 750 and i need to know if theres any out that that people recommend.... any comments suggestions etc would help .. even if its a DONT BUY or a this one looks pretty .....

Seagate 7200.10 are good drives, have a 320 and 250 gig ones for a few months now, no problems with either one of them.

I agree with a seagate recommendation, I have 2 250GB SATA's and thinking of getting another 320GB.

Get whatever you want. They all fail, they all have warranties, and they all should be backed up. That said, everyone is going to have their favorites--I like Western Digital. Get something with a good warranty, and a price to size ratio that fits your budget. Good luck.

Seagate, WD, Samsung and Hitachi are considered the most reliable. I've personally had a lot of maxtor drives go bad on me (and two of my friends too) but it probably happens with every brand sooner or later. Get something with a decent warranty, Seagate or WD being my recommendations.

I also recommend Seagate 7200.10 series. I have a 400gb sata and a 500gb sata 7200.10 and love them. I also have 3 300gb sata Maxtor Maxline III drives and they work great as well, took a chance with Maxtor but their Maxline III line is great.
