Harddrive recognition failure

i rebooted my computer one night and suddenly windows was unable to read my secondary harddrive.

The drive is recognized in BIOS and not the booting drive.
i changed the IDE cables and still have the same problem.

The drive is not recognized in FDIsk although in Hardware configuration i can see it under my primary drive with no red "x" although when i attempt to read the property configurations, nothing shows up.

i've also uninstalled the drive and reinstalled the drivers, same problem.

re-formatting is not an option for many gbs of photos, videos, and music are held there.
