my western digital caviler 20gig randomly clicks and studderswhen im playing starcraft. what is going on? can heat damage a harddrive? my system temp is 27degrees celsius

i am very carefull with all my pc componetns. is this just bad luck?

I had the same thing happen to my ibm 75gxp

I'ld start looking to save data to a new drive or CD-RW. sounds like death of a HDD click.

If you experienced this on another drive, you might start looking seriously at your power source. Could your houser current be fluctuating often? Is your PC power supply suffecient,or is it older than 2 or 3 years? Is it a quality power supply? Do you protect your system with a surge protector?

Western Digital isn't what it used to be. They do fail more often than their good name suggests since they outsourced manufacturing to indonesia.
