Harddrive Question

NutBucket

Lifer
I just bought an 80 gig Maxtor drive and Partition Magic is telling me that I can't make one primary partition on it b/c it exceeds the 1024 cylinder boundary. Would using the included Max Blast software circumvent this or do I need to make two partitions? The mobo is an ASUS CUBX and I'm running the drive off of the ata-66 controller. Thanks

Wasn't the 1024 cylinder boundry something to do with the 2GB limit of FAT16, or that 8GB limit?
What version of Partition Magic are you using? Just using Fdisk should be fine to do partitioning; if using NTFS, the Windows program CD should be able to take care of partitioning.

I tried using fdisk (booted straight to a command prompt but it only allowed me about 10 gigs). I have PartitionMagic Pro 7.0 and that's the error it give me when I select FAT32 and primary partition.
