Harddrive problem pls help!

Hi,
At first i am putting 2 harddrive ata66 and ata33 together in one ideata66 cable. After i found out that it will slow down my ata66 harddrive i take out my ata33 hard drive and connect back to ata33 ide.My problem occured, my hard main harddrive ata66 wont boot to windows anymore...it jsut stop at verfying dmi data .....( dos) can anyone help me out thanks

Did you set the jumper(s) on the back of the primary master to single drive, sometimes the setting for the drive to be master is different.

In the bios have you set the bios not to look for a primary slave disk, if you have set the actual parameters of the HD in the bios that'll make it fail. Also make sure you have the secondary IDE channel enabled and the secondary drive set to auto or do a manual detect in the bios.

There's a few things to try..

those suggestions didn't work?

try enabling "reset configuration" somewhere in the BIOS setup, that should fix any problems with the DMI pool

If your OS is Windows 95 or Windows 98, get your boot up floppy disk. Boot into floppy then issue a sys c: then reboot.
