I've just bought a Western Digital 160GB Internal Hard Drive (you guys remember those hdd sale in OfficeMax?), I connected as my slave drive and it worked fine for a few days, but just a few minutes ago, i couldnt access it, i got the error "H:\ is not accessible" or something like that, I restarted the computer, b4 the logon screen appeared, a blue screen, i think it's the scan disk screen or something like that appeared, and it was very fast but i could read something like "deleting index ...."etc, god.

And I could access it again but i found out that i lost half of my files..........

Pls, anyone help me!!! What's wrong here? Is the HDD broken? Can i find my files again?

PS: Oh, and i should have mentioned that this partition is in NTFS, while my C and D drive are in FAT32 ! my boot drive is always FAT32 up to now, but seem like FAT32 doesnt support HDD greater than 120gb so i had to choose ntfs for the new hdd!

1. Run some Anti-Virus software
2. Verify the cable is physically intact, and connected properly.
3. Your MFT may be have been corrupted, format your drive and retest.
4. In my experience, a new hard drive will either fail in the first few weeks, or last years. Not too many in the middle. You may have gotten a dud. :(

Btw, NTFS is FAR superior to FAT32 in the vast majority of scenarios.

I used some Data recovery tools like Active@ UNDELETE, they all reported they can't not read some sectors (those last ones). But I used HDD Regenerator and found no bad sectors on my HDD. I also did a through out scan disk in windows. Any suggestion please?

did you use western digitals little recovery sweet? I've had good luck with that when I've been forced to deal with those pesky WD drives :p
