I'm running dual boot XP/Linux and I have always made my windows partitiions in the past first, typically just C: and D: then install Linux.

Well this time I installed XP into C: but I forgot to create my D: partition from the free space and installed Linux next , then I remembered that I forgot about the D: drive until Linux was installed, then created it afterwards.

So now In cfdisk this is my setup:

Name Flags Part Type FS Type [Label] Size (MB)
---------------------------------------------------------------
sda1 Boot Primary NTFS [^E] 47188.44

sda5 Logical Linux ext3 32.91

sda6 Logical Linux swap / Solaris 1497.01

sda7 Logical Linux ext3 45000.51

sda3 Primary NTFS [^X] 206355.83
Primary Free Space 8.23

Does it matter I did this, or should I of made sure to of created the Windows partitions first? Now having this:

Primary, Logical, Logical, Logical, Primary, Primary

INSTEAD of getting, making:

Primary,Primary, Primary, Logical, Logical, Logical ?

Will my performance be hindered now, or the harddrive doesn't care about the order?

THANKS

No that's what I made before, but no worries I deleted the linux ones and D: and redid them over, now they follow like they did before, with NTFS as the first two, then linux following last.

This is the way I always have had them in the past, so all is good now! ;)

sda7 Logical Linux swap / Solaris 1497.01
