>>> Harddrive is Flipping noisy<<<

Alright. I am now worried. Every time I start up my computer for about 2-5 seconds my 2 year old harddrive makes a "scratchy" load sort of noise. It also does this once in a while when I am running windows and I am moving a large file or doing whatever. I have experienced no problems with the drive so far, but I think maybe I should do something. Anyone had a similar problem?

If by "scratchy" you mean fingernails-on-chalkboard sound, I'd say your drive is about to die.

I've had two do that - one managed to last until I was able to get its replacement (about two weeks with intermittent noises), the other screamed and then let me boot it about two more times before it froze halfway through a reboot. I was able to reformat that one, but when it did the bad-clusters check at the beginning of the format cycle, it "spun the counter"...

Good luck with it...but I'd make certain my backups were current.
