harddrive file structure corrupted...

I think there is something happened to the file structure on my harddrive. I tried scan it, it takes a long time to finish the tests with no error. But the problem is still there.

I can open/access/read the files on the hard drive alright. But when trying to copy them, it takes a very long time and ends with error.

I deleted two files. Now the recycle bin keeps showing that there are two files which I don't see. And when I try to empty it, it shows "Cannot delete files: Cannot read from the source file or disk."

Would someone help me on this?

Boot from your installation CD and select Repair. If you don't have one, a friend's will do for this test as you will not be actually reinstalling from it. This will take you to a DOS type screen where you will select the operating system (usually 1) and the administrator password (usually blank, so you would just hit <enter>).

Once there, type "chkdsk /r" (without the quotes, of course) and watch to see what it finds and fixes. If you have more than one or two errors found, then get the diagnostic software from the manufacturer and run it. This will determine if it is a problem that will require a warranty (or non-warranty) replacement of the drive.

If the drive has a few errors, and you decide to use it, then do a good backup and repeat the chkdsk /r utility after about a week and see if it finds any more errors. A drive that shows you more new errors on the second test (remember, the original errors were fixed with the first test) may or may not test bad for warranty purposses, but it IS going to fail soon, and you need to replace it.

It's a Seagate 300gb SATA drive divided into two.

After checking, the one started failing has no problem but with correction on MFT, etc., and the one later failed has 8K bad sector.

I think somehow Adobe is involve in it, which was why I asked for help in the first place.

Every time having trouble accessing the drive, Adobe.exe, Adobelm_Cleanup.0001(2x), and Adobelmsvc.exe show up on windows Processes.

It is unlikely it is the program Adobe.exe itself. Where your problem lies is in the plysical location on the hard drive disk that contains these files. It has become damaged or is defective. This is what I was suspecting based on your original question.

If the drive is under warranty, try to get it replaced through the Seagate web site. They will allow you to have the replacement drive shipped to you and then you return the defective drive in the same box. They would take your credit card information, but you wouldn't be charged unless you didn't return it within 30 days.
