Harddrive crashed! Need help Please!

My friend's harddrive crashed. It's on a crappy Emachines computer. His WinXP Home restore disk is not working (hanging on setup). In order to expedite the whole process I told him to bring a new harddrive over to my house so I could install my WinXP pro (multiple site license) to the his harddrive via my computer. Then he could just install the new "proven" drive to his computer.

Is there a problem with this procedure? (system config, drivers, etc)

A better solution?
