I run dual harddrives C: & D:

I wish to link my hard drives in Cable Select mode.

The cable has 3 plugs, 1 blue which goes to the MOBO, 1 in the middle (black) and one at the end (black).

Which plug goes to the C: drive, black middle or black end?

1.) Set jumpers on your HDs to CABLE SELECT.
2.) Blue to mobo
3.) Furthest plug goes to HD 1
4.) Middle plug goes to HD 2

The end plug (on the opposite side of the motherboard plug) is for master. The one closest to it (the middle plug) is slave.

why on earth would you want csel in the first place?

the following does not apply to you, but it's information useful to ppl nontheless.

if you are doing ata66 or higher, that is with the 80 conductor ribbon with the BLUE, BLACK and GREY connectors...

BLUE - controller
BLACK - master
GREY - slave

the order of the black and grey order can be switched.

I'm using Western Digital Drives and with my MBO there is a known conflict which is solved by going cable select.
