Hi all, just wondering what you use to see your HDD transfer speeds and stats. Is there any kind of 'gold standard' benchmark? I'm just curious how my SSD's in my desktop perform. They're plenty snappy for my uses, but I'd just like to see how it compares. I also have an SSD in my laptop, it is older, again I'd just like to see how my old stuff compares.

Thanks!

For quick-and-dirty stuff, I use Aja's System Test and Crystal Disk Mark on windows. Aja is basically for sequential video-type workloads, but it has a couple of cute features, like sweeping through video frame sizes, total file sizes, and read-back existing files. It logs IO transactions so you can make pretty graphs too if you're so inclined.

On Ubuntu, the disk utility gui has an easy to use benchmarker.
