harddrive apart

Well today grandpa and I took apart our 1st hard drive. The one in his computer went bad, so i got him a new 120gb 7200rpm 8mb cache one. we deceided to take the crappy one apart. The one we took apart was a maxtor diamondmax 16 80gb 5400rpm.

You can put the platters in another hard drive to increase the capacity.

Never tell someone who does not know better to wipe a hard drive clean.

They will call you later crying when they can no longer use it.

Yes they will take it apart and wipe down the innersides with rags, etc.

Imagine that!

I've got an 80mb hdd that I've always wanted to take apart, but for some reason I keep thinking I might need it some day. :confused:

True story. Had that happen, and now CompUSA NEVER EVAR! tells anyone to wipe their HDD.

I thought Maxtor is only on Diamondmax 10s. :p
