Harddisk Lead to Mobo Failure

Basically, I have two HDDs, one Maxtor and One Seagate in my computer. Recently my motherboard died unexpectedly. Figuring it was the powersupply I bought a new case. However I moved one of my systems into the 'problem' case and it's fine. So I also bought a new mobo, I put all my internals in and boot up, everything's fine. I go to reboot and it doesn't boot. It causes the BIOS to lock up and freeze at the BIOS logo.

My question is, could the harddrives be the problem? Do I risk another of my machines by placing these drives in it and formatting them? I've lost two motherboards and I'm trying to decide if this is a freak issue. Thanks.

When the new motherboard died, were you using the old power supply or the new one?

It is extremely, extremely unlikely that a HDD could kill a motherboard. Damn near impossible.

That's what I figured, I was using the new one with the new case the second time.

its not very sound to buy a case for a power supply. keep the old case, and buy a new psu, cause most likely the power supply you get with the case is of poor quality.

I wanted the new case anyways, I had a full size ATX case and I only needed micro-atx. However I'm going to try my luck in a bit with the drives.
