I'm using Maxtor SATA-150 80GB Harddisk and it's making a lot of noises especially when I play America Army game. Sometimes it's unbearable to hear the noise. If I am using another program, the noise comes out a for a while but it stops. But when I'm playing this America Army, it's sounding non-stop 'jit-jit-jit' sound. Hope somebody could help me.

Thanks :)

The easiest way to quiet down a hdd is to decouple it from the case. I have mine sitting on some 3/8" foam with a fan blowing over it. Another method is to suspend the drive in a 5 1/4" bay with elastic string.
My raptor was so loud that I really couldn't deal with it. Now that its sitting on the foam I can't hear it anymore.

They also make 5.25 cases if you have one open in your rig that are padded and enclose the drive. They almost make them inaudible and cool. BTW what kind of sounds, usually alot of clicking sounds and things of that nature could be that the drive is beginning to fail.

sorry i'm a noob so i dunno the sound that marks hdd failure. What kind of sound it is? Mine is 'jit-jit-jit' and when it's working big task like virus scan or playing america army, it just doesn't stop. But i think it's still functional. Thanks to both of u for the replies. :)
