My desktop is connecting to the internet via the wireless card.
What do I need so I can have my xbox connected to my desktop while I can use the wireless connection?
I tried to use my spare router to connect my xbox.
I could connect to my xbox but as a result I lost my wireless internet connection.

A little more detail about the situation would help, though one way of doing it would be to use internet connection sharing in Windows.

Wireless Confused!

Assuming that now you have a Wireless Cable/DSL Router connected to the Internet, and feeding your Desktop through Wireless Client Card.

You can not use the Wireless part of the Router since it is a Gateway device, and you need a Client device.

You need to by a Linksys WET11.

The WET11 is a special Wireless Gizmo that does not need drivers, thus can be connected to none computer devices like Game Boxes.

This card through the Router will let you connected the Box to you desktop, and will enable you to game over the Internet.

LINKSYS WET11 ETHERNET TO 11MBPS (802.11B) INSTANT WIRELESS BRIDGE ADAPTER

Nore on the issue here: Wireless Network - Configuration Modes.

your problem could be simple, the first thing that came to my head was that you have two routers on the network both of which have dhcp enabled, if this were the case then one or both would most likely stop functioning at all/correctly. If one of them can have dhcp dissabled then do so and your problem might be solved.

Put a second nic in your desktop and hook the xbox up to it with a crossover cable. Now setup internet sharing and you're set.
