One other question folks, Im putting together system now.
The only problem is I got one ATA 100 cable and I need to fire up two harddrives.
Shall I put one on the ATA 100 cable and into an IDE channel on its own and the other on a normal ATA 33 cable an in another IDE channe on its ownl..
Or shall I put them both on the same cable the (ATA 100 cable) on the same IDE channel?

P.s. both harddrives support UDMA 100.

I'd put the 2 different hard drives on their own IDE channel each. (seperate cables)

makes copying from 1 to the other a lot faster for the most part.

If the ATA33 cable is an old 40 wire cable, definitely put the drives on the same ATA 100 cable.

Put each drive on its own cable and channel, even if one of the cables is ATA 33. This will give you the best performance. You can always buy a ATA66/100 cable later.

My experience with modern drives leads me to believe that putting one of them on an ATA-33 channel will stunt performance more than simply having to share an IDE channel, with both drives connected via ATA-100/133.

Stick them both on the same ATA-100 cable, and don't worry about it.
