I have a 120Gb HD IDE that I use for all my data. Currently I use an 80Gb IDE HD as my system drive. I also have an extra 80Gb and 2 40Gb drives lying around, all IDE. Should I just raid the HDs I have or buy some SATA drives to raid? Would the performance increase be worth the money spent? Or should I make use of the drives I have?

Thanks
Jay

BTW its an AMD 64 3200+/Asus K8V SE Deluxe

keep your drives, don't waste your money on RAID, and there's barely a diff between SATA/IDE.

Here's a thought: Image/ghost your system drive to that extra 80GB drive you have. Just in case of a catastrophic failure or event, you just swap out the drives and you're back up and running.

As for RAID, it would give you only a minimal boost in most apps, so probably not worth it.
